February is Black History Month. Today we will begin by viewing a timeline showcasing some Black History Milestones. If there are any events on the timeline that you are unsure about, click on them to learn more.
Once you have viewed the timeline, compile a list of the five events that you think are the most significant. To be clear, these events can be positive or negative. It is entirely up to you to choose the events.

I think that the five most important events were Emmett Till1955, the Bus Boycott 1955, Brown v. Board of Education 1954, I Have a Dream speech in 1963, and Obama becoming president in 2009.

He wanted to make people get along with one another and only be judged by there character.

It was time for change and America got it. The US needed some change. Hopefully people will now start to see that color doesnt mean a thing.

-The story of Marten Luther King Jr. is a powerful time. It was a time of violence with peace.
-Another great moment was the time of the Underground Railroad. Escaping slavery was all any black person wanted. Harrit Tubman was a women who escaped and helped others to escape.
-The story of Emmett Till was tramatic. To be killed for something so childish and in such a brutal way just breakes my heart. I can't believe the two men got away for it in the past and that it took the future to put them in jail.
-Separation can't be equal. Being equal means staying together without segargation.
-slavery in America started in 1619 and i think it should never had started in the first place.
I think the most important events are Emmett Till, The Underground Railroad, The Million Man March, Assasionation of Martin Luther King Jr., The Bus Boycott, and Board v. Board of Education case.
1. Slavery in america- as an important event, i chose this particular one because this is what brought Africans to America.
2.1831-abolisionry starts- people like Harriet Tubman make real stands to help free the black nation from slavery and oppresstion.
3.1909-NAACP is founded-this was a major milestone due to the fact that black people in america were begining to establish themselves as people of order, justice, and meaningful collaboration. I am proud to be part of this organization.
4.1955-Emmet Till's murder-often described as "a spark that started a fire" this was a horrible murder case of a 14 year old black boy. he was mutilated and drowned in a river all because he allegedly whistled at a white woman.
5.1963-march on washington-it was at this famous march that Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I have a dream" speech in front of millions of people.
6.2009-Obama's Inaguration- this is a great milestone in black and american history. it is here that a black man became the president of the united states for the first time.
