The map I chose was the Colonial Settlements map. It basically shows where the thirteen colonies were divided into New England, Middle, and Southern colonies.
The map of the underground railroad in 1860 is to teach how and where the excape routes were so that african americans could live a better life and to recieve their freedom.
Shows the routes of the Slave Trade, and how the slaves escaped from their "masters" and got to freedom. The majority of routes were in the North than the South.
The map i am looking at is Status of Slavery in the Territories 1850-1854. SLAVE TRADE- Texas, Indian Teritory, Lousiana, Arkansas, Mississppi, Alabama, Georgia, Forida Carolinas, Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri, and Tennessee
everyone else except for Utah Territory and New Mexico Territory were free states and territories.
Utah Territory and New Mexico Territory are left to decide by popular vote
I chose the "Major Civil Rights Events". On the map, it showed events such as the March on Washington, Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech, the bombing of the church in Birmingham (killing 4 little girls),and the first lunch sit-in in Greensboro, North Carolina. I find these events important because if they didn't happen, us blacks would not have the oppurtunities we have today,like becoming the United States president (Barack Obama).
I am choosing to comment on the Public school segregation laws of 1954. it shows which states had a requirement of prohibition of integration in public schools. from this map i see that 50 years ago I would not be in this room because North Carolina was required to be segregated. It makes me thankful for what I have now.

Public School Segregation by State 1954 explained all the schools that were or weren't segregated. There was about 15 states that were segregated by law. Then there was 16 states hat were against it. Only 4 was nuetraul. Last the rest weren't regesterd
